TerraLUX at the 2013 SHOT Show

On January 18, the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) concluded four successful days at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas , setting new attendance records and marking the 35th anniversary of the event.  TerraLUX was there with our whole portable product line, including our new tactical line of flashlights as well as some (yet to be released) camping and backpacking lights.

Booth visitors loved the tactical flashlights.  The design, build quality and brightness exceeded what someone would expect in a tactical flashlight.  What set the TerraLUX tactical lights apart from the competition was the accessibility of the strobe feature, removable bezel and light output.   The strobe button is on the tail cap and is separate from the on/off button.  This allows the user quick access to the strobe feature without having to look for it or fumble around with the power button.   Booth visitors loved this ergonomic addition to the tactical line.

“Mode control is going to be the key to a quality flashlight as our industry moves forward,” said Steve Sparks, account manager at TerraLUX.  “The lumen chase is still on, but we’re getting close to the ‘how much is too much?’ point in flashlight brightness.”

Law enforcement officers liked the design of the upcoming TerraLUX  TDR1 and TDR2.  The magnetic charger allowed the flashlight to be charged while still in the officer’s belt.   The light also “remembers” the last lumen setting after powering down the flashlight.  Once turned back on, the flashlight starts up in the same mode.

This summer, TerraLUX will introduce a line of lights for the outdoor enthusiast.  Prototypes of the line were on display, and those who stopped by to check them out were excited about the quality of light produced by the camp light.  It features a three-panel diffuser that distributes the light evenly around the lamp.

“We have some unique product lines that are being received very well,” said Sparks.  “The tactical line is compelling and our customers agree they offer substantial performance gains.  It’s not just the military and outdoors guys that talk to us.  The law enforcement and security guys feel the design of our flashlights give them an edge in a tight situation.”
